by Amanda Pruitt

Senior Kendyl Washburn scored her school-record setting 34th career goal.
Box Score
SEARCY—Senior forward Kendyl Washburn broke Harding's career scoring record with a game-winning penalty kick as the Lady Bisons defeated the Austin Peay Lady Governors 2-1 at First Security Stadium on Sunday afternoon. It was Harding's second program victory over a Division I school. The Lady Bisons also defeated Alabama A&M 2-1 in 2000.

Harding (2-4-0) took a 1-0 lead when one of Austin Peay's own defender deflected the ball into the net in the 13th minute. Lady Bison sophomore Chelsea Smith applied pressure as Lady Governor goalkeeper Michelle Smith attempted to clear the ball. Her attempted hit her teammate and rolled 30 yards into the net. Austin Peay (0-4-0) tied the match five minutes later as Stephanie Hosse scored on an assist from Monique Wong, and the match remained tied 1-1 at halftime.

After being fouled inside the penalty box, Washburn scored on a penalty kick in the 54th minute. Washburn's goal was the 34th of her career, breaking the record of 33 held by Lori Boren, and her team-leading third of the season.

The Lady Bisons snapped a four-game losing streak, breaking their longest regular-season losing streak since dropping five consecutive matches in 2002.

Harding will host Lyon College on Tuesday at 5 p.m., followed by the men's match at 7:30 p.m.
